I started Cloud Heart Yoga with a passion for innovation in yoga and fitness. In college I studied physical anthropology, with a focus on human evolution. I also spent a lot of time in the dance studio. I enjoyed ballet for its discipline and explored modern and African dance styles. I also took the white belt course in Nia dance fitness, but did not have the confidence to teach. So I went to law school.
Fifteen years later I was depressed. My body had become rigid from stress and inactivity; my mind was a mess and I was self medicating stress. I didn’t know what to do but I had to change. I was too ashamed of myself to attend a class so I started with a yoga dvd. That video changed my life. When I had the courage to go to a class, I was thrilled. And once I met yin yoga, it opened paths in my life.
My goal in founding Cloud Heart Yoga & Fitness is to bring the joy of movement to other people and to help people who may have lost their connection to their body. My philosophy will always combine functional fitness – adapted to your body – with the joy of movement. Movement is our birthright.
